Cigarettes don’t only cause lung cancers but can also cause other problems to the heart and blood vessels. Some other cancers associated with smoking include larynx, esophagus, bladder, kidney, pancreas, stomach, and some other organs. Smoking also causes some serious respiratory diseases. Emphysema is a disease that robs a person of their ability to breathe. This disease is terminal and it kills you. It destroys a little bit of your lungs at a time so you don’t even realize there is problem. Patients who have emphysema can survive for many years with the help of oxygen tanks and special breathing exercises. Everyday activities, like shopping, cleaning, or exercising are some things that you can’t do in the later stages of emphysema. Elaine Landau says in her book “Cigarettes” that one cigarette lessens a smokers life by 7 minutes. Overall smoking is very dangerous a deadly it causes over 300,000 deaths a year in the United States. So if you’re ever offered one just remember how dangerous it is even if it only lessens your life by 7 minutes. However you don’t have to smoke to be harmed by cigarette. This leads us to the effects of secondhand smoke. Inhaling smoke from others is called passive smoking. There two kinds of secondhand smoke, mainstream and sidestream smoke. Sidestream makes up 80 percent of secondhand smoke and mainstream 20 percent. Sidestream is the more dangerous of the two because it has higher concentrations of poisons than
Smoking at parks and other public outdoor venues should not be allowed as it delivers a wrong message. In order to decrease the amount of people smoking, children should be taught from a young age and allowing smokers to smoke at places where children are mostly present will have a bad influence on
The smokers who choose to bring harm to themselves have the right to damage their health if they choose. The alternatives non smokers have are to not be in presence of smokers. Where public places advertise no smoking, and still supple designated areas for smokers they should still take in account that the smoke still ventilates the surrounding areas. My advice is not to engage where there is no smoking, and smoking areas. The fumes from the non smoking area cannot be contained completely. If you don’t want to stop passive don’t attend these public places. The article on line indicated if there was enough non-smokers going to these public facilities there would be no need to post no smoking () .
While smoking causes many diseases in the heart it also affects the lungs. Every time someone lights up a cigarette they’re increasing their probability of procuring pneumonia, emphysema, lungs cancer, or chronic bronchitis pulmonary disease (COPD). Sadly Eighty-four percent of lung cancer deaths are smokers and eighty-three percent of COPD
First off, research has proven that secondhand smoke, the non-smoking person who inhales the nearby toxin and fumes, is capable of causing equivalent harm to the lungs as to the firsthand smoker, the person willingly imposing harm onto a neighbor. Tragically, it is completely devastating and disgusting
Smoking can cause a significantly amount of damage to the lungs, such as pneumonia, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), upper respiratory infection, emphysema, asthma, bronchitis, wheezing, colds and smoker's cough. This chronic cough is the attempting to get rid of the poisonous fumes you're inhaling on a daily basis. Smoking can lead to an average of 84% of deaths from lung cancer and approximately 83% of deaths from chronic obstructive lung disease, including bronchitis. Skin
Second hand smoke is smoke inhaled involuntarily from tobacco being smoked by others. An easier way to understand second hand smoke is smoke breathed in by others. This can be as dangerous as if you were to be the smoker. About 7,300 people die of lung cancer caused by second hand smoke. Also, 34,000 people die of heart disease also caused by second hand smoke. About 37% of the people in the world smoke in front of there kids and don't know what it can lead to. In Kentucky 65% of adults support smoke free laws and about 1.5 billion dollars is spent on
Smoking tobacco smoke generated. There are 3 types of smoke: mainstream smoke, the smoke flow additives and environmental tobacco smoke. Mainstream smoke (MS) is a line of smoke inhaled by smokers. It is the airflow passing through the root of cigarettes. Secondary gas stream (SS) is the smoke from a burning cigarette first emitted into the air, it does not include the smoke exhaled by smokers. Approximately 80% of the cigarette is burning away. Environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) is a mixture of sub-ordinating and smoke exhaled mainstream smoke of contaminants as well as the diffusion of tobacco wrapped in paper and started smoking a cigarette in between ETS is very similar to MS: it including more than 3,800 chemicals. Surprisingly, the SS had more mixed than MS powerful carcinogen. This is because the SS often than MS contamination. SS with MS and other products that may exist under authoritarian types eg nicotine primarily in the form of solid particles in the mainstream smoke, but the smoke gases in the environment size of the particles is very different in different kinds of smoke. The size of solid particles ranging from 0.1 to 1 micron in mainstream smoke, but the smoke from 0.01 to 1
Many people already know that smoking is very dangerous for your health, but only recently have we discovered that secondhand smoke is just as detrimental. Smoking is an expensive, bad habit that causes harmful, long-term effects on the smoker and all those around him. Unfortunately, non-smokers must witness, experience, and live with the smoke day in and day out. Secondhand smoke can result in both short and long-term health consequences, even though you are not actually smoking. Many smokers do not realize they are harming others when they smoke, but in reality, they may be hurting their neighbors more than themselves. Secondhand smoke, also known as passive or involuntary smoking, can lead to illness and various forms of cancer.
As he is pulling out his lighter and lighting the cigarette. There is a little boy sitting at the table next to him. The man just say to himself “ It's ok to smoke if everyone else is.” As the littler boy breathes in th3e smoke not only the smoke is unhealthy but the smoke is also increasing the chance for the little boy to have cancer. How would you react if that boy was your son? This brings up the debate on banning smoking in public. There are many pros and cons of banning smoking in public.
Many of the cancers besides lung cancer may develop as a result of cigarette smoking. One example is cancer of the larynx. Sometimes the larynx has to be removed because of the presence of a tumor, forcing the smoker to breathe through a surgical opening in the wind pipe. Because the larynx is located near the voice box, the voice box will often get destroyed from the tumor on the larynx, forcing the smoker to use an artificial voice box in order to speak. Less major cancers including cancers of the cheeks, gums, lips, tongue, esophagus, bladder, kidney, and pancreas may also arise.
America is at war. It is a civil war taking place on our streets, in our parks, and at our restaurants. It is the war on smoking. Over the past several years the debate has been raised about whether or not smoking in public spaces should be allowed. Should a person be able to go anywhere in public and have the right to clean air? Is society infringing upon the rights of smokers? This social issue is more than just about health. This is a topic of great importance because of the implications of a ruling in favor or against smoking in public could have great implications to how our society determines their norms and ideals in the future. This is a subject that could be covered from many angles and many different socio-economic perspectives. The topics discussed in this paper will include, the environmental effects of smoking, the “right” to smoke, the effect bans have on industry, and the slippery slope a ban on smoking would imply. Although there is plenty to debate when it comes to smoking in public, we will discover that none of it negates the negative health affects smoking has on the smoker and the secondhand victim. That’s why I feel that a smoking ban should eventually be passed.

A lot of people smoke but what they do not realize is exactly how harmful it is to smoke. All over the world teens try to smoke because they think it is cool, or if they do it then they will fit in with the group. Should the government allow smoking public places? Is the fact that some states allow people to smoke in public places influencing teens and other to start smoking? These are a few questions that many people ask when they think of this topic, along with the health of people who smoke regularly, the laws on smoking, and how much people spend on a stick of cancer.
Should someone be able to smoke in a public place? Some people believe it should be banned and others argue that its violates their freedom. The people for this ban argue that it effects the people around them in a negative way. The people against want to just smoke out in public. Although there is strong evidence that second hand smoke has severe health While out right banning smoking is wrong, there should be a certain limitation of where you can do it so you won’t affect others.
