In this book I will be explaining the differences the similarities and the conclusion. The differences are not big differences but differences that need to be seen. The book and the movie that I will be comparing are Where the Red Fern Grows published in 1961 and the movie which was out in 1974. They did some changes that probably had to be made to fit the time limit, so it wasn’t to long.I don’t know what the other movie which was published in 2003 is the newest one made. My reading class watched the 1974 version. And I am going to tell you about the differences.

Plot is one of the most important aspects of any story or novel. Without plot, there is no point to the story being told. If there are characters walking through the woods the reader needs to know why they are walking through the woods and where they are going. In “Indian Education” there is a clear and concise plot that follows a logical sequence of events. For example, when Victor is shown to be in second grade he narrates that his teacher “…sent a letter home with me that told my parents to either cut my braids or keep me home from class.” This causes feelings of outrage in not only Victor, but his parents too. Later, as an act of defiance towards his oppressors, Victor tells the reader that his graduation cap does not fit because of his extremely long hair. With each event that happens, the reader can connect it to another event or the story as a whole without confusion or difficulty.

Red Dog is important to each character for a different reason, though equally important, and slowly, each character finds a way to be cheerful . Red Dog impacts them all through loyalty; he is a friend for everyone. Trust; Red Dog helps everyone in the community to trust each other. Lastly, friendship; through the film the community of Dampier become friends and are kinder to each other.

'Red Dog'- an Aussie drama\comedy film released in 2011, tells the true story of a red stray kelpie dog that existed in Western Australia during the 1970s. Set in a working mine, the “Pilbara Wanderer” was known for his ‘hitchhiking', travelling around the globe from person to person, perusing great loyalty, adopting people and bringing the community together. This classic Aussie movie has shown the loyalty of dogs and the sense of community spirit.
